Devapriya Roy is the author of two popular novels — The Vague Woman’s Handbook and The Weight Loss Club — and a long-dragged-out-and-nearly-abandoned PhD thesis on the Natyashastra. Her most recent book, The Heat and Dust Project: the Broke Couple’s Guide to Bharat (HarperCollins, 2015), co-written with husband Saurav Jha, is the story of an eccentric journey across India on a very very tight budget: 500 rupees a day. It debuted at no. 1 on the Hindustan Times-A C Nielsen list. She is a Consulting Writer for Scroll.in.
